People in the occupied West Bank have held a funeral ceremony for a Palestinian policeman killed by Israeli gunfire.

The procession took place in the city of Azzun. The mourners paid tribute to the slain officer as a martyr. They chanted slogans against Israel and called for the downfall of the regime. Palestinian officials said Tareq Badawan was shot dead by Israeli forces in the West Bank city of Jenin on Thursday. The incident took place in the midst of Israel’s crackdown against Palestinian demonstrators who were protesting the so-called peace plan recently unveiled by the United States. On Friday also, Israeli soldiers shot and injured dozens of protesters in the city of Qal-qil-yah. Palestinians, from different political factions, are united in their opposition to the peace plan known as the Deal of the Century.
