UN flights to Sana’a suspended over fuel crisis

Yemen has suspended all UN and humanitarian flights to Sana’a airport over fuel shortages.

The decision is a result of the Saudi-led coalition’s move to block 21 commercial vessels in Hudaydah port. The coalition has prevented over 5-hundred-thousand tons of fuel from entering the country. A few weeks ago, the Yemeni foreign ministry asked the UN to provide the airport with around 48,000 liters of fuel. However, the request remained unanswered. Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement has also, time and again, accused Saudi Arabia and its allies of waging economic war against impoverished Yemenis. Months after launching a war, Riyadh placed a tight aerial and naval blockades on Yemen, depriving millions of people of much-needed food and fuel.
