South Korea has reported its highest daily increase in novel coronavirus cases since early March.

The country reported around 400 new infections as of midnight Saturday as the nation has seen more than a week of daily three-digit rises. That brings South Korea's total cases to well over 17-thousand. More than 300 people have died from the disease there so far. Authorities have enforced more social-distancing measures in some areas and closed some public places such as buffets and cyber cafes. They say schools and businesses could be closed, too, if the infection rate continues to rise at the current pace. This comes as the global death toll from the virus has surpassed 800-thousand. Around 23-million-400-thousand have been infected worldwide.
