Newly-revealed documents accuse British special forces of executing Afghan civilians during operations and covering things up by claiming to have targeted Taliban militants. The documents show a pattern of killings that led to the execution of 33 Afghan civilians by a special forces death squad in Afghanistan in the space of three months in 20-11. The documents reveal some special forces commanders had at the time expressed concerns about the suspiciously high number of enemies reported killed in action. The evidence emerged in a British court examining a lawsuit on killing of four unarmed members of an Afghan family in February 20-11. Back then, a large-scale military investigation into the incidents had simply overlooked the killings, despite finding them suspicious. The evidence was earlier withheld from the courts, triggering a judge demanding explanation from the ministry of defense.
