Newly-revealed documents accuse British special forces of executing Afghan civilians during operations and covering things up by claiming to have targeted Taliban militants. The documents show a pattern of killings that led to the execution of 33 Afghan civilians by a special forces death squad in Afghanistan in the space of three months in 2011. The documents reveal some special forces commanders had at the time expressed concerns about the suspiciously high number of enemies reported killed in action. The evidence emerged in a British court examining a lawsuit on killing of four unarmed members of an Afghan family in February 20-11. Back then, a large-scale military investigation into the incidents had simply overlooked the killings, despite finding them suspicious. The evidence was earlier withheld from the courts, triggering a judge demanding explanation from the ministry of defense.
