Oregon Governor: Federal agents to pull back from Portland

The governor of the US state of Oregon says the federal government has agreed to withdraw its agents from the city of Portland.

Governor Kate Brown said the administration agreed to end what she called the QUOTE "occupying force" stationed at a federal courthouse in Portland after weeks of clashes between activists and agents. However, the Department of Homeland Security said it would maintain its presence until conditions improved. The federal government deployed agents to the city in early July to suppress anti-racism protests. The demonstrations began all across the U-S in late May when African-American man George Floyd was killed by a white cop in Minneapolis.
