US Defense Secretary Mark Esper says his country will withdraw nearly 12-thousand troops from Germany, following a decision by President Donald Trump.

Esper added that some of the forces might relocate in Poland and The Baltic states if they reach final agreements with Washington. He said the repositioning could start within weeks. Last month, Trump announced his decision to cut the number of American troops deployed in Germany, accusing Berlin of being - delinquent in its contribution to NATO. Following the announcement, the leaders of four German states called on the U-S Congress to stop the troop reduction, warning it could weaken the NATO’s deterrence against Moscow.
