UN: Yemen on brink of famine again

PressTV 45 views
The UN humanitarian coordinator for Yemen has warned that the war-torn country is once again on the brink of famine.

Grande said the UN does not have the necessary resources to stop the phenomenon during the COVID-19 pandemic. She stressed that the global economic crisis caused by the pandemic would have a serious impact on humanitarian aid budgets for Yemen. Last month, the U-N raised just the half of the required 2-point-41 billion dollars aid at a donor conference. Grande said only nine of the 31 donors could provide the funds. Tens of thousands of people have been killed since Saudi Arabia launched its war on Yemen in March 2015. The UN says Yemen will remain the world’s largest humanitarian crisis in 20-20.
