Sanctions imposed by EU on Venezuelan officials

Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the head of the European Union mission in Caracas to leave the country within 72 hours.

Maduro said the EU took action against the board of the National Assembly because it refused to take orders from the bloc’s Embassy in Caracas. His comments came after the E-U imposed sanctions on eleven Venezuelan officials including opposition legislator Luis Parra. Relations have soured between Venezuela and the EU after much of the bloc recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country’s interim president in January 20-19. The block also imposed sanctions, including an arms embargo on Caracas.
