North Korea warns it will act over propaganda leaflets

North Korea’s army says it is ready to take actions if defector groups continue their campaign of sending propaganda leaflets into its borders.

The army said it is studying an action plan to re-enter demilitarized zones under an inter-Korean pact. It also noted that it will rapidly implement any orders from the authorities. Earlier, the sister of North Korea’s leader, who acts as his top aide, ordered the military to prepare for action. Tensions have increased on the peninsula after Pyongyang threatened to sever ties with Seoul over the leaflets being sent into the North. South Korea has already taken legal action against two defector groups, saying they fuel tensions and cause environmental damage. The groups, however, have vowed to continue with their cross-border campaigns.
